In our institute, glass prostheses are manufactured in the patient’s presence. Each artificial eye is custom-made and intended to match the natural eye as closely as possible. The ocular prosthesis serves the patient’s physical as well as psychological rehabilitation. From the medical point of view it is necessary because it protects the orbit and prevents its shrinkage. Ocular prostheses essentially contribute to restoring the balance of the patient’s face.
In view of our experience and patients’ preferences, we mainly produce prostheses made of glass which meet the high quality and medical standards as defined in the Medizinproduktgresetz MPG (Legal requirements for medical products). In special cases consultation with the Ophthalmologist and the medical insurance company is required prior to manufacture of acrylic prostheses.
